Multifamily Apartment Investment Acquisition Criteria
Communities
We focus on communities located in emerging markets with strong near and long-term employment and population growth, which drive rental demand. We invest in areas with affordable rent, where there is more opportunity and upside to increase rent. We also focus on markets that we believe are undervalued and are positioned for growth.
Transaction Size
We purchase apartment buildings being sold for $10-80 million dollars with 100+ units.
Asset Type
We look for Class A/B properties with an excellent opportunity for value creation through renovations and improvements.
We seek out:
- Under performing or distressed multifamily properties
- 100+ unit multifamily properties
- Desirable and safe locations
- Typically built in the mid 1980’s or newer
Hold Period
Each property is typically held for 3-5 years before we sell it, with consideration of the market and its exact business plan.
Mark Faris

Mark founded Faris Capital Partners to help Canadian and American real estate investors buy multifamily apartments in Florida, providing an incredible investment opportunity combined with exceptional service. Mark and his wife Joanna co-founded Faris Team Real Estate Brokerage in 2007, turning it into a mega real estate team that has transacted over $8 billion dollars in Real Estate sales and set record success in Canada. Mark has expanded the real estate brokerage into Florida, USA. To date, Mark owns and operates over $160 million in multifamily assets, single family assets and commercial. Mark attributes much of his success playing hockey in Canada, USA and Sweden, as well as his success in Real Estate, to his commitment to excellence and going FULL OUT.

John Makarewicz is a seasoned professional with expertise in leadership, operations, and growth strategies. Currently serving as the President at Faris Capital Partners, John previously led Mark Spain Real Estate as President, driving the company’s annual sales volume from $721 million to $3.9 billion and increasing lead conversion rates significantly. John is passionate about building businesses that enrich stakeholders’ lives.
Madison McCarty, CPA
Director of Finance, Dealing Representative
Madison McCarty is a Chartered Professional Accountant who specializes in financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting. Madison successfully completed the Exempt Market Proficiency course and is a Registered Dealing Representative with Faris Capital Partners. In her past, she worked in public accounting as an auditor gaining audit and taxation experience in a wide range of industries including real estate and construction.

Srishti is a driven marketing professional with 5+ years of experience in the real estate industry. Srishti previously worked as a marketing manager for a tech startup, successfully planning and executing strategic campaigns to build brand awareness and support growth goals. She has a passion for sports, music, and travel, and leverages her diverse interests to bring creativity, authenticity, and a unique perspective to her work.
Georgia Pitrone
Senior Vice President of Asset Management
Georgia Pitrone brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry to Faris Capital Partners. She is tasked with assisting with project underwriting, ensuring operations are in line with projections, managing all 3rd party management relationships, and auditing operational and financial packages. Georgia has worked in all facets of real estate – commercial, industrial flex, storage and multifamily in both the public and private sector.

Andrea Rothe spent 4+ years with clients in residential real estate, making the initial connections that inspired buyers and sellers to move forward confidently. She also brings her experience in startups to the team, with a genuine love for collaboration and problem solving. Putting people first, she is dedicated to making authentic connections with clients where they feel safe, heard, and inspired.

Investor Relations
Angela Maria Williams brings over 25 years of experience as a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois. She has also held Real Estate licenses in Georgia & Florida with experience in Property Management, Buyer/Investor Seminars & Marketing Properties. Known as one of Chicago’s most sought-after Brokers based on being a skilled negotiator, confidentiality, and accessibility.
Angela’s collaboration with a major International Real Estate firm in Chicago gained her experience in marketing multi-million-dollar estates. Angela credits her success in Real Estate to her genuine love of helping people achieve their dreams.
Joe Lowery
Senior Vice President of Acquisitions
Joseph “Joe” Lowery brings over 12 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions. He has been involved in over $1.1 Billion transaction volume, including $800,000,000 in acquisitions and over $300,000,000 in dispositions, throughout his career. He previously served as the Vice President of Acquisitions at Cohen Investment Group (CIG). Joe was responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities and growing CIG’s portfolio of assets throughout the Southeastern United States. During his time at CIG, Joe was involved in $668,000,000 in total transactions and was the deal lead on over $354,000,000 in transactions, achieving a 2.17 equity multiple and IRR of 28.84%.In addition to his professional work experience, Joseph serves on the Board of Trustees for the Old Dominion Real Estate Foundation. He also serves as the foundation’s Secretary/Treasurer and sits on the Executive Committee and Finance and Audit Committee. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute of Virginia and Hampton Roads and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
